Should I buy “Lists” of companies that order catering?
During our first twenty years in the catering and restaurant business, we bought our share of lists. The lists were often accompanied with catch phrases from the seller such as, “Can’t-Miss Prospects” and “Red-Hot Leads” and “Companies That Order $50K or More a Year in Catering…” Blah, blah, blah. Every time we bought a list, we were disappointed. So one day, we smartened up and realized that if we wanted quality leads we had to create them ourselves. And that is when our catering business started to really take off.

One of the mistakes I made over the years was continuing to buy lists and always hoping that the next one would be the magic one. I believe this is the definition of Insanity – doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results. Finally, we began creating our own lists. It was the best thing I ever did for my catering business.
